It's the most wonderful time of the year for many girlfriends who know that they will be getting that ring any day now! December through February are the busiest months for relationship statuses to change from "In a Relationship" to "Engaged".
If you are one of the lucky ladies who happen to become betrothed this season, CONGRATS!!
I know that you want to revel in your newfound status for a bit, but do you know what comes next?
I know, I know. This beautiful and exciting process can sometimes trick you into thinking that it is stressful, overwhelming, expensive or scary. But the good news is that it doesnt have to be. Here a few steps to take into consideration that can help you to remain centered and keep your eyes on the prize.
1) RELAX. Dont allow yourself to become overwhelmed thinking further out than
necessary. Remember this is a PROCESS and remind yourself of how much you would regret it, in hindsight, if you had not have really savored these moments instead of freaking yourself out every step of the way.
2) ENJOY! So after you have returned to planet Earth, and officially left Cloud 9, Enjoy the "just engaged" glow because hopefully, this will only happen once. Enjoy spending time with your new fiancé. I wouldn't take this time to get wierd or forget about him, so that you can finally actualize the wedding you have been planning since 6th grade.
3) LOOSELY PLAN. Explore what you want, ( the number of guests, the venue, the food, the decor) and create a vision board/ Pinterest Board outlining what you really desire. It is perfctly fine to dream in this step. Do not intercept awesome ideas or concepts because of the percieved price point. Inspiration is FREE!
4) PROPOSE...to your bridesmaids. Now it's your turn to pop the question. Once you have chosen the ladies that you would like to stand with you for the most important thing that can happen in your adult life, tell them. It's important to do this as soon as possibble , being a bridesmaid can get pretty costly and the more advanced the notice, the better. Find a really cute way to ask them. This may be over drinks (on your dime) or a fun pedicure, a package or a fabulous Lily and Lace Bridesmaid Invitation Jewelry Card.
